Meet Our Staff: Mary Keefe

Prior to joining Smart Energy Choices, Mary Keefe worked with the Watershed Steward Program near Oneonta. While the program focused on invasive species work, its foundation was in community outreach and education. While working there for over three years, she joined the Sustainable Communities program in Binghamton, where she connected with someone who ended up working for CCE Tompkins.

When CCE Tompkins announced an open Community Energy Advisor position, her Sustainable Communities connection encouraged her to apply, as it would be a good way to support her community like she had in the past.

To Mary, the Regional Clean Energy Hubs are more than just resources for energy education; they serve as community builders as well. While she hasn't been with the Hub long, she's already appreciated its person-centered approach and dedication to helping those in need.

“I’m someone who doesn’t like paperwork either; it can be stressful. So if I can help with that, or ease any other part of the process, that is the goal. I am here to try and make connections in a professional manner, but let people know, hey, it is sincere; we’re not another place just trying to get numbers. We’re here to help and work with the community.”
