Meet Our Staff: Cameron Worsham

Prior to joining Smart Energy Choices, Cameron Worsham worked for 5 years as a shift supervisor at a chain coffee shop. There, he discovered his passion for connecting with people, so he was always looking for a chance to have a more fulfilling impact on the people he cared about beyond just a cup of coffee.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Cameron helped to co-found a mutual aid organization in his Virginia hometown. He and others put together care packages and delivered them to communities in need and put on free utility workshops to help folks tackle rising costs. This was his primary exposure to the high burden energy costs can be on many residents.

One of Cameron's friends worked at Cornell Cooperative Extension and knew about his desire to help his community, so he recommended Cameron apply for the recently opened position for Community Energy Advisor in Broome and Chenango counties. Cameron jumped at the opportunity, as the Regional Clean Energy Hubs aligned with his goals of community support and impact.

Now that Cameron has joined the team, he's hit the ground running advising residents on tackling their utility bills. While he's still early on in his role, he's excited to help people lower their energy costs and do good for the environment.

“It’s not lost on me how great of an impact we can have on people’s lives. So, I think it’s really fortunate to be a part of an organization that does have such a good impact.”
— Cameron Worsham

When not working, and when the weather is nicer, Cameron can be found outside hiking or riding his bike. Contact him with your energy questions by calling 607-366-0833 x5 or emailing cjw324@cornell.edu.
