Installing an energy storage system at your home, whether paired with solar panels or standing alone, provides resilience to your home in case of power outage. Residents may opt into utility programs that provide a credit on their utility bill for providing power back to the grid.
Incentives for home energy storage systems
NYSERDA offers incentives for home storage systems up to 25 kilowatt-hours (kwh) in capacity. To access that program, the storage system must be new, grid-tied, permanent, and stationary. See more information on NYSERDA’s website.
For the Southern Tier region, the incentive is $200/kwh, increasing to $450/kwh for income-qualified households or for homes located in a Disadvantaged Community View NYSERDA’s incentive dashboard for current incentive levels.

Once your system is installed and operational, NYSEG offers incentives for providing energy back to the grid via a storage system through the Energy Storage Solutions Program.
