Meet Our Staff: Carrianne Tribe-Filhart

Carrianne Tribe-Filhart (she/her) has worked with those in underserved communities for much of her working life, so the Hub has been a natural fit for her. Before joining Smart Energy Choices, she worked in a variety of roles to help people apply for social services and overcome barriers to employment, including at the Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative.

After hearing of the Community Energy Advisor position with Smart Energy Choices and Cornell Cooperative Extension, she felt ready to shift her career. She had already been helping folks become self-sufficient and improve their quality of life, so doing the same thing but in the energy field was an easy choice.

I think one of my strengths is just really being genuine with folks and helping them overcome barriers for applying and collecting documents needed [by saying], ‘If you’re unable to come to me, I can meet you closer to your home. I’ll handle the application, and we can sign it together. I can also take photos of the necessary documents to make things easier for you and advocate on your behalf.’

Her CEA role at the Hub also allows Carrianne to address a long-held priority in her life: taking care of the environment. So, not only is she able to help people live more comfortably and affordably; she can also combat climate change and make a difference for the planet.

When Carrianne isn’t advising, she can usually be found reading, spending time outdoors, or hanging out with her many grandchildren. Call Carrianne with your energy questions at 607-366-0833 x 4 or 702.
