Devin Bialy (he/him) has been environmentally conscious for a long time. Later in his education and working with Cortland County Mutual Aid, he saw a way to combine his environmental values with community building. He learned how important it is to recognize the disparities within society as well as the common struggles we face.
That dedication brought him to Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County, where he was able to benefit the community in a meaningful way. When CCE joined the Hub program, Devin became a Community Energy Advisor.
Devin enjoys educating people and providing support to those with energy-related needs. He knows how tedious it can be sometimes to navigate energy assistance programs, especially when living a busy life. So, he’s glad to help residents navigate their way to energy savings. In his free time, Devin enjoys playing games, watching anime and listening to music.
“Being concerned about the environment is a plus, but a lot of our residents aren’t; they’re concerned with bills. And that’s understandable. Once again, they’re going through it, and what the climate is going to look like in 20, 30 years is less important than, ‘Are my lights gonna stay on? Is there gonna be food in my fridge?’ That sort of thing.”
