Prior to joining Smart Energy Choices, Sam Edel (she/her) worked in office administration at a farm that worked with regenerative agriculture. She greatly enjoyed the sustainability aspect to her role, as she worked to collect samples to determine the farm’s overall carbon footprint. But overtime, her role changed, and she wasn’t able to have the same focus on sustainability.
Then, her friend suggested that she apply to the role of Community Energy Advisor (CEA) for Smart Energy Choices out of Delaware County. She jumped at the opportunity, seeing it as a great way to return to her sustainability work as well as serve her community.
Sam strongly believes in the Hub and its mission to help those struggling with high energy bills. As someone who has struggled with financial challenges in the past, she knows how stressful it can be, and how a local, trusted source can make such a big difference. Ultimately, she wants to help people save money on their energy bills however they can, being the resource she wishes she had so many years ago.
“The hub is important to me because of the work that it continues to do. I think one of the things that I probably hold most dearly about the hub [is] its ethos in general, but I think especially having a goal to impact low-income folks and help them through these projects, … that it’s really important.”
When Sam isn’t working, she can typically be found hanging out with her dog, meditating, or doing yoga. Call Sam with your energy questions at (607) 366-0833 ext. 3.
